Adam Wingard, the director of acclaimed films “The Guest” and “You’re Next” is back with another horror flick “The Woods” which is deemed “one of the scariest movies ever made” by the critics. First teaser trailer of “The Woods (2016)” is debuted and set to a creepy cover of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take”. Written by Wingard’s longtime collaborator Simon Barrett, the teaser doesn’t show much but promises a strangling, claustrophobic experience.
“The Woods” opens on September 16, 2016 . Based on the few seconds of juicy footage toward the end of the trailer, it seems to be doing quite an excellent job of that. One of the scariest movies in decades, “The Woods” reinvents horror with a completely fresh and terrifying take on the genre. The film is staring James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson .
The story involves a group of college students on a camping trip who discover they are not alone in the woods. The group ignores the faded sign nailed to one of the trees. “No entry after nightfall,” it reads. It appears as if a new batch of campers are going to quickly discover that, much like Evil Dead or Cabin Fever or Wrong Turn, the forest isn’t a nice place. They decide to stay overnight in the dense and empty woods and suffer the consequence of something “evil”. The force is unknown but judging from a few glimpses in the teaser, it is quite capable of mutilating the campers.
Wingard himself provided a link to the trailer on Twitter and wrote, “This is my first full on ‘s**t your pants’ horror film.” The tag #TheWoodsAreWatching became trending soon after the release the trailer. George Shaw’s review to the teaser – “down, dirty and delightful in the woods.”
It can scare the hell out of future campers…so watch out for something evil in THE WOODS.
