Vinesh Phogat & Sakshi Malik Qualify For Rio Olympics 2016
Earlier Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the 1st World Olympics Qualifying event for being overweight. She overcomes weight issues and made every Indian proud by securing Rio Games berth at the second World Olympic Qualifying tournament held at Istanbul, Turkey.
Vinesh Phogat clinched a gold in 48kg category while Sakshi bagged a silver in 58kg class on Saturday securing their Rio Games berths in their respective weight divisions. Vinesh demolished Evin Demirhan 12-2 in the 48 kg semis and will face Poland’s Iwona Nina Matkowska in the final.
Sakshi held her nerve to get past Lan Zhang of China in the semifinal. She will face Russia’s Valeria Koblova Zholobova in the final.
As they booked a Rio Games quota place, the social media is flooded with applaud and appreciation for the girls. Everyone is wishing them best for their final game. The Bollywood Superstar ‘Salman Khan’ congratulated the girls.
