The makers expect ‘Project Marathwada’ will earn satisfactory returns this week. It is the story of an indebted farmer, who comes to Mumbai for Government’s help after his son’s suicide. The plot gets a twist when he meets four college students who are making a documentary on current farmers condition.

Om Puri is playing the role of the distressed farmer Tukaram in the movie. He feels we have abandoned our farmers and yet they have continued to feed us. He felt really disturbing to see their miserable state.

The director, Bhavin who also belongs to agricultural family was moved by the statistics that highlighted the number of farmers committing suicide in India. He had worked in theatre before directing several short films.

Project Marathwada insists on bringing viewers attention the food providers of our country and their present state. He highlights how bureaucracy and corruption suppress their rights and help.
