Internationally acclaimed Punjabi drama movie “Chauthi Koot- Fourth Direction” released 05th Aug in theatres has received rave reviews from critics and viewers all across the country. The film has successfully completed its 1st weekend at the box-office. Read on to find its 3 days earning report.
Based on short stories by Punjabi writer ”Waryam Singh Sandhu”, Chauthi Koot emerged as a Superhit flick if we count its positive reviews. The first weekend collection of the film is expected to be low as it bagged only 50 screens in Punjab and 30 screens in major Indian cities.
The film is distributed by Drishyam Films across India barring Punjab region as revealed by online portals. Chauthi Koot is based on the dark period of mid 80s in Punjab. Its a content rich film with incredible performances but its little screen presence and very little or no buzz surrounding the movie will limit its journey over the box-office.
There is very little awareness among viewers of the film and time and again we have seen such movies collecting very less amount at the box-office. We are expecting it to mint approx Rs 2-3 crores in its opening weekend.
The film is from the director “Gurvinder Singh” who is known for winning National Award for his critically acclaimed film, ‘Anhe Ghore Da Daan’. This release is his another masterpiece. This film too has various prestigious awards under its name.
The film is produced by Kartikeya Narayan Singh and is set during the Sikh separatist movement of the 1980s. It is the first Punjabi film ever to be selected at Cannes. More screens will be added if it able to catch viewers attention. Such serious cinema should be promoted on bigger levels. We rarely get to see gems like this on screens.
